The VLN race weekends will next year become even more interesting for the fans. For selected events, the programme will for the first time ever be extended to three days. The most important news first: The races of the endurance championship Nürburgring will remain those compact one-day events taking place on the Saturday. There will be no changes or restrictions for the VLN participants.
“The VLN has become firmly established in the world of motorsport throughout the last 40 years and the events have evolved into becoming a popular platform”, says Dietmar Busch, Managing Director of the promoter, the VLN Vermarktungs- und Veranstaltungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG. “Over time, series organisers have approached us with the wish to organise a race as part of our events. We have thus decided to extend single VLN events to become three-day-events. The most important aspect hereby is that the actual race of the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring will run with an unchanged timetable on the Saturday and without any restrictions for participants and fans. This DNA is of great importance for us and the VLN teams and it represents a unique feature of our series.”
The 24h Series Europe will make the start next season and have a race within the framework of the VLN for the first time in Germany. A 12 Hour Race will be organised on the Grand-Prix-Circuit during the VLN race weekend organised by the Rheydter Club für Motorsport on 10 to 12 July 2020. The VLN race organiser will also be responsible to run that support race. The various sessions of the 24h Series Europe will be scheduled around the VLN timetable. The race cars used will largely comply with the VLN Regulations. “There are clear synergies to be found”, says Ralph-Gerald Schlüter, Chief Representative of VLN e.V. & Co. oHG. “The participants in the series will have the possibility to experience live and on the grounds the endurance championship and its qualities as well as the unique Nürburgring Nordschleife. On the other side, some of the VLN teams which are running customer cars will also start at races of the 24h Series Europe. So there is a benefit for everyone.“
