Frikadelli: Campbell/Jaminet with a strong fight to catch up

Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet provided a good result for the Frikadelli Racing Team after a strong fight to catch up at the VLN season opener. The driver duo in the new #31 Porsche 911 GT3 R started from 27thgrid position and fought their way up during the race into a final fifth place. Sabine Schmitz, Alex Müller and Klaus Abbelen in the sister car finished 16that this first race of the VLN season.

“All in all, I am very happy with our performance at the season start. Apart from our two GT3 cars, the Porsche Cayman GT4 of Hendrik von Danwitz and “Jules” also finished in a good fifth place in the very competitive Cup 3 class. This is a good basis on which to build further developments”, said Team Principle Klaus Abbelen and Sabine Schmitz added: “This is the first time in nine months for me to compete in a race with the Porsche, so it was a new beginning at the start. Nevertheless, I felt quickly at home again and I was really comfortable behind the wheel. I am already looking forward to my next time.”

Mathieu Jaminet was surprised by himself: “I myself would never have thought that we would have been able to gain so many places in the race. But our pace was really good. Especially the final part was extremely exciting. I had a fantastic duel with my make colleague Klaus Bachler in the Falken Porsche 911 GT3 R over several laps. And later on, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 joined us in the battle. Everything was running in an absolutely fair way, motorsport is really great fun this way.”
