Cayman GT4 Trophy: To the victory with the side mirrors turned in

Last year’s champions Mühlner Motorsport are also the winners of the first round of this year’s Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey-Racing. The drivers of the winning team at the 65thedition of the ADAC Westfalenfahrt, the VLN endurance championship season opener, were Moritz Kranz, Michael Rebhan and Nico Menzel (#979). In second place finished the pole setters Daniel Bohr, „Max“ and „Jens“ (#960, Teichmann Racing) ahead of Marc Keilwerth and Marcos Adolfo Vazquez (#966, Mathol Racing) who followed in place three. The car with start number 960 was awarded an extra championship point for the fastest practice lap.

This first race was marked by many changes of positions with a close fight about place one. After several changes in the lead, the decision about the victory was taken in the last of 19 completed race laps. The fastest race lap was set by Mölig, Dienst and Lefterov (#947, Overdrive Racing), but the so far race leaders had to retire shorty before the finish after a collision. The Mühlner driver trio with number 979, which had originally taken the start from position seven, then took over the lead.

Moritz Kranz said: “May start in the Cayman came about in the short term. In parallel, I was competing with our Cup car. Great that it nevertheless worked, especially since the race was extremely competitive. At the start we were so close that we mutually turned in our side mirrors.”
