The VLN is dancing and singing. The „Night of the Champions“ last Saturday at the Bitburger Event Center marked the fabulous highlight of a spectacular racing season 2018. The action really took off once again at the Nürburgring during an exciting party with about 600 guest celebrating in an exuberant mood.
Ralph-Gerald Schlüter, the chief representative of the VLN e.V. & Co. oHG, opened the event with a review on the past season. He did not refrain from being self-critical and promised to improve some issues for the future. Above all, however, he described an optimistic future scenario for this most popular grassroots series of the world. “The numbers of spectators and the accesses on the livestream have increased. With the average of 160 cars starting in the practice, we achieved the same figures as last year. We have scheduled additional measures for the next two years to even increase the attractiveness of the series for participants, sponsors and spectators likewise”, said Schlüter who explicitly wanted to thank the about 500 on duty during the events. No wheel would turn round without their brilliant and committed engagement.
The emotional highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to the VLN Champions 2018. The Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport had come to the ceremony in the Eifel with 90 attendees to celebrate adequately their drivers Christopher Rink, Danny Brink and Philipp Leisen. On their way to the stage, the crew around Team Principle Matthias Unger formed a guard of honour for the fast trio. The fireworks on the stage provided the culmination of the ceremony.
After the numerous presentations of awards and trophies, the drivers, team principles and team members demonstrated in an impressive way that they can also speed up off the race track in a brilliant manner. They were just dancing the night away until the early morning hours. And there were quite a few who could hardly hide their anticipation that the VLN will be starting again finally on 16thMarch with the test and set-up session.
