Sorg Rennsport: Viidas and Hansesaetre with an impressive performance

Securtal Sorg Rennsport started into the VLN season 2018 with a second and a third place. “We are very satisfied with our result, a big compliment to our drivers”, said Daniel Sorg. And Benjamin Sorg underlined: “That was the well-deserved reward today for the many nights in the last weeks.” Nine of the ten cars which the team had entered made it to the finish.

The best crew in the team was Tristain Biidas from Estonia and Inge Hansesaetre from Norway in the BMW M235i Racing Cup class which figured the total of 19 cars. The driver duo finished in third place with a gap of 1:56.577 minutes behind the class winners David Griessner and Yannick Fübrich. “I am really happy for our drivers. It was only the fourth race at the Nordschleife for Tristan and Inge has so far only been competing in the production-based V4-BMW”, said Benjamin Sorg. With their twelfth place, Christian Andreas Franz and the Swiss Mark Benz as well as Philip Schauerte just barely missed the top ten. James Clay and Cameron Evans from the United States became 14th and Carlos Federico Braga, Facundo Chawan and Alfredo Tricarichi from Argentina 15th.

Very pleased about their second position out of eight starters in class SP10 were also Heiko Eichenberg and Yannick Mettler from Switzerland who made their debut in the new BMW M4 GT4. And this despite the fact that the driver duo was slowed down early in the race due a failure in the ABS. The Porsche Cayman GT4 Cup with drivers Torsten Kratz, Stefan Beyer and Emin Akata finished fourth. The team result was rounded off with positions four, five and seven from amongst the 17 starters in class V4. “We would of course have been delighted to finish on the podium, but we missed that little bit of luck this time”, said Daniel Sorg. The engine in the BMW 325i of Kevin and Cedric Totz as well as Torsten Kratz simply did not start when they wanted to join the starting grid. Start driver Cedric Totz had to take the start from the pit lane and with a one-minute penalty. In addition, another one-minute stop-and-go penalty was later imposed on the team due to speeding in the pit lane. So seventh position was the maximum the co-favourites were able to achieve this time.

Nicolas Griebner, Stefan Kerkemeier and Jan von Kiedrowski were behind the steering wheel of the BMW 325i Coupé in which they crossed the finish line in fourth position with a gap of only 29.9 seconds behind the third-placed. Emir Asari, Oliver Frisse and Ola Setsaas followed just behind. Björn Simon, Philipp Hagnauer and Thomas Müller in contrast did not make it to the finish in class V6. The driver trio had to park their Porsche Cayman S mid-race due to technical failure.
