GetSpeed: Premium victory at the season opener

The 1stVLN race represented a specific challenge for the GIGASPEED Team GetSpeed Performance. It was the first time for them to compete with a Porsche GT3 R in the high-performance class SP9. Their additional engagement with two cars, one in the class of the Porsche Carrera Cup vehicles and the other in the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy class, has already become a tradition.

Steve Jans and Marek Böckmann, the two drivers of the new race car, made their debut with the Porsche GT3 R and finished the first round with a class win in the SP9 premium classification. The two drivers as well as the whole team hereby used this opening round to collect important experience. After four hours racing, the Luxembourgian Jans crossed the finish line in the lead of his class and in 20thoverall position. “After five years, we now finally made it into the SP9 class. Of course, the development of the project as well as gaining as much experience as possible will first of all be in the focus. Marek and Steve will have to learn about all the details of the cars and gain confidence. I am nevertheless more than satisfied as their performance was absolutely amazing even though a time penalty dropped us back from twelfth to twentieth position. Concerning lap times, we are only six seconds behind the works cars, that is acceptable”, said Team Principle Adam Osieka.

Regarding the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy, this is already the third season for the Team GetSpeed. With a class win in the Cup 3, the regular drivers “Max” and “Jens” demonstrated brilliantly the experience which they have at the Nordschleife. In the qualifying, the driver duo from Berlin made it into fifth place only due to heavy traffic and many yellow flag situations. In the race then, both drivers were able to realise a strong performance. In contrast to the qualifying, they benefited this time from some yellow flag sectors. In combination with perfectly scheduled pit stops, they gained an advantage of almost two minutes and finished the race in first place. “After the long winter break and the cancelled test and set-up session, we could hardly wait to chase around the Nordschleife again with our Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport. We had great fun in the race and above all also with the setup of our car. We are totally happy with the first place as this was our big target for the current season”, said “Max”.

This year again, the driver trio John Shoffner, Janine Hill and Arno Klasen will be at the start in the Porsche Carrera Cup class. However, their participation was first of all overshadowed by a high-speed accident in the area of Hohe Acht. They worked flat out on the race car all night to get it ready for the race and they succeeded. In the qualifying already the trio gained pole position in the Cup 2 class. Final driver Klasen then set the fastest race lap in their class and finished second. “Considering that we saw only bits and pieces of the car on the trailer on Friday evening, the race was running more than satisfactorily for us”, said Klasen.
