Falken on the chase again

Falken Motorsport wishes to use the boost of last year and take off again in the endurance championship Nürburgring in the season 2018. The team will enter two cars for the 20th motorsport season at the legendary Nordschleife, with a slightly modified driver line-up.

“2017 had been the most successful motorsport season for Falken. The victory at the fourth VLN race as well as additional top-three positions are the result of a strong team performance and the consequent development by our engineers. We are one hundred percent competitive both with the BMW and with the Porsche”, says Markus Bögner, Falken Tyre Europe CEO.

In its current step of evolution, the Porsche 911 GT3 comes with a 4 litres flat engine, developing 358 kW (500 HP). Martin Ragginger and Klaus Backler will take turns behind the steering wheel with Porsche works driver Dirk Werner and Sven Müller. The new team member Müller is Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and Porsche Carrera Cup Germany Champion 2016. Like last year, the BMW M6 GT3 will be driven by Peter Dumbreck and Alexandre Imperatori who will be supported by Stef Dusseldorp and Jens Klingmann. Klingmann has already competed for BMW in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship and in the ADAC GT Masters. The powerful racing car from the Munich factory is driven by a 4.4 litres V8 bi-turbo engine with up to 430 kW (585 HP, depending on the categorisation). Both cars will as usual appear in the popular “Teal-and-blue-design”.

In addition to the VLN, the calendar of the Falken team also includes the ADAC Zurich 24h Race. The Tyre Trade Center which is based at the Nürburgring will assume the complete tyre logistics and support Falken in equipping additional customer teams with racing tyres.
