WTM-Racing concluded its preparation for the new season successfully in Barcelona

The Wochenspiegel Team Monschau (WTM-Racing) this year started to get prepared for the 2018 endurance racing championship season in Spain. Their programme included two test days end of February at the Barcelona Grand-Prix Circuit. This season, WTM-Racing will enter two Wochenspiegel-Ferrari 488 GT3 for the VLN endurance championship rounds at the Nürburgring. The car with start number 22 will be driven by Georg Weiss, Oliver Kainz and Jochen Krumbach and the driver squad in car no. 11 will be made up of Christian Menzel, Nico Menzel and Leonard Weiss.

Both Ferrari race cars and all of the six drivers were present at the test site in Barcelona. “A good test. We were able to test everything that we had planned in these two days. We have carried on our work to further develop the handling of the cars. The lap times were hereby not that important but all the drivers were nevertheless already quite quick. A compliment goes to Rinaldi Racing for the perfect preparation of the Ferraris. We did not encounter any problem during the tests.” WTM-Racing will next take part in the VLN test and set-up sessions on 17th March at the Nürburgring.

Georg Weiss: “A successful weekend. Both Ferraris were running perfectly. My son Leonard was very fast right away, he was even faster than me. But that is fine on the other hand, he is finally clearly younger and he may have more talent. My proud definitely prevails.”

Oliver Kainz: “A good test. I drove a lot and had right away a good feeling again in the car. We had no problem at all. And with two Ferraris, we have now moreover the possibility to test different items on the track simultaneously.”

Nico Menzel: “It was great to be back in the race car after the long winter break. The car was perfect and we could test a lot of things. I am now looking forward to the races at the Nürburgring.”
