The “Eifel frog” will hop again around the Nordschleife

The green Opel Astra GTC of Stock Rennsporttechnik will celebrate its comeback at the Nordschleife after a break of two years. The “Eifel frog” will have its first appearance again at the Nürburgring 24h Qualification Race. Andreas Winterwerber and the DTM Champion of the year 1984, Volker Strycek, will share the cockpit of the race car.

The calendar of the team also includes four participations in the endurance championship Nürburgring. The car will be entered for VLN races five to eight where Winterwerber will be supported by Christoph Renicke. Together with Strycek, the 56-years old race driver took fifth position at the 40th DMV Münsterlandpokal in 2015 with the same car in the Specials 3 class.

“He accepted immediately when we asked him whether he would be up for competing in our team this season. I am very happy that we have found a fast and experienced partner with Christoph. I can hardly wait for the races to start and for our comeback to the Nürburgring”, says Winterwerber.
