Changing in the guard: Ralph-Gerald Schlüter assumes the office from Karl Mauer

Starting from 1st of January 2018, Ralph-Gerald Schlüter takes over the responsibilities as Chief Representative of the VLN oHG. In July already, the Stakeholders had elected the 65-years old as successor of Karl Mauer.

In July 2011, Mauer became Managing Director of the VLN GbR. After the legal status of the organisation behind the endurance championship Nürburgring was transformed into an ordinary partnership in August 2014, he assumed the role as General Representative. After his six years of activities in the VLN steering group, Mauer’s contract ends as scheduled on the 31st of December 2017.

“I wish to thank all those who have been supporting me in my activities for the VLN”, says Mauer. “Without this support, I would today not be able to look back onto this eventful and exciting time of my life with such a happiness and satisfaction.”

Mauer’s successor Schlüter is an expert, too. Since the foundation of the VLN in the year 1977, he has been involved first of all as member and later as organiser in his function as Chairman of the Rheydter Club für Motorsport. Since 2014, Schlüter was the spokesman of the VLN oHG Board. Moreover, the retired businessman has himself competed in many races at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

“Karl Mauer has shaped the VLN in the past years and we owe him a lot”, says Schlüter. “I wish to carry on with this successful work and with further developing the series. This represents a big challenge which I am happy to take up.”
