VLN calendar 2018 announced

Next year’s calendar of the VLN endurance championship will again comprise nine events to be tackled at the Green Hell. Eight of the races in this worldwide biggest grassroots series will run over the distance of four hours and take place between the 24th of March 2018 and the 20th of October 2018. The highlight of the season will be the ROWE 6 Hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen on 18th of August which will be running over a six hours race distance.

“We found an agreement with the circuit management on nine very suitable dates for the 2018 VLN races”, says Dietmar Busch, Managing Director of the VLN Veranstaltungs- und Vermarktungsgesellschaft mbH. “Two of the VLN events will be organised before the 24 Hour Race which is scheduled to take place beginning of May and they will thus offer the teams the possibility for a perfect preparation of this classical long-distance race.”

The qualifying rounds will be organised by the nine stakeholders of the VLN oHG. Two jubilees will be celebrated in 2018: The AC Altkreis Schwelm will celebrated the 60th anniversary for the H&R-Cup and the Barbarossapreis will be organised by the MSC Sinzig for the 50th time. Other organisers are the ADAC Westfalen, the Renngemeinschaft Düren, the MSC Adenau, the Rheydter Club für Motorsport, the MSC Ruhr-Blitz Bochum, the Dortmunder MC as well as the MSC Münster.

The VLN races will in the 42nd year of this traditional series again be one-day events. The positions on the starting grid will be based on the results achieved in the timed practice session on the Saturday from 08:30am to 12:00am and all the races will start at 12 o’clock. Test and set-up sessions will be organised previously on each Friday before the race weekend to provide the participants with the opportunity to adjust their cars for the races.
