The Opel Astra TCR is also victorious in endurance racing

Kissling Motorsport is now also competing in endurance racing with the Opel Astra TCR. In addition to many successful results in international TCR sprint racing series, the Astra TCR with advanced car components has now also been victorious during the scheduled endurance tests. At the eighth round of the VLN endurance championship, the Astra which is designed for customer sport went into the lead of the TCR class last weekend again and demonstrated its qualities.

“The tests for the car in its configuration for endurance racing have now also been completed successfully”, says Kissling Motorsport Director Stefan Kissling. “At the four VLN participations, we scored 2 victories, one second place and one retirement which occurred after an accident with the car previously leading. The various component which we supply for our successful Sprint Astra TCR are working perfectly even in the toughest racing conditions.”

Apart from the fast Finnish driver Hannu Loustarinen, former DTM champion and OPC Director Volker Strycek accompanies the successful tests of the endurance racing components as race and test driver. “To finish as TCR class winner and 20th overall in a field comprising 158 cars, in front of many super sports cars, illustrates the potential of the Astra TCR and the development that Kissling Motorsport has performed. We have developed the new M5 Racing ABS for touring car racing together with Bosch and it works impeccably at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The suspension, too, can be perfectly adapted to the conditions prevailing at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The 77 corners, the 300 metres of difference in altitude, the various qualities of the asphalt and the changing weather conditions at the longest and most difficult race track provide unique testing possibilities. Testing at the Nordschleife under racing conditions is hence extremely important for the development in motorsport”, is the summary of Volker Strycek in view of the successful tests completed by the team of Kissling Motorsport.

“The current results at the Nürburgring clearly show that we have done our homework properly”, says Stefan Kissling. “And our customers may look forward to an exciting race car.”
