Strycek catches up with Schall

After the 40th RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen, Volker Strycek received a lot of recognition by his driver colleagues. On Saturday, the 59 years old won even two classes at the Nürburgring. Together with his daughter Lena he won the Opel Cup class and he also dominated the TCR class in a team with Hannu Luostarinen. This double was however not the only reason to pay tribute to the DTM driver. With meanwhile 95 victories shown in the all-time class winners list, Strycek has now caught up with Ralf Schall and gone into the lead. Schall had to be satisfied with a second place in class H4 at the sixth VLN race but he has already taken five class wins previously this year in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup together with Christopher Gerhard.

Recognized was also the performance of Peter Hass who scored another top result even though he had to get along this time without his regular team mate Strycek. With the support of Olaf Beckmann in the Opel Manta, Hass scored his 90th win in class H2. Double reason to celebrate had also Christian Kohlhaas. With the Ferrari 458 of the Spark Plus Racing Team, he took his 25th class victory together with Stephan Köhler (10th class win) and Mike Jäger in class SP8. At the same time, this represented the 25th VLN class win for the race car from Maranello. Ivan Jacome, too, has meanwhile obtained 25 victories after having dominated class V6 for Mathol Racing together with Claudius Karch in the Porsche Cayman S.

Both Steve Jans and Michael Schrey were also acknowledged with applause for their 20th class win respectively. Together with Tim Scheerbarth, Jans prevailed with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup of the Gigaspeed GetSpeed Performance Team in the Cup2. Schrey was fastest in the Cup5 with a BMW M235i of Bonk Motorsport. Finally, there were four more drivers who celebrated their tenth class win each, those were: Daniel Schwerfeld with Wolfgang Weber in class SP10 for Mathol Racing in an Aston Martin Vantage V8, David Ackermann with Carsten Weischar and Stefan Müller in class SP6 for rent2drive-Familia-racing in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, Christopher Brück with Frank Kräling and Marc Gindorf in class SP7 for the Gigaspeed GetSpeed Performance Team in a Porsche 911 GT America and Daniel Schellhaas with ‘Smudo’ and ‘Tom’ in class SPAT in a Porsche Cayman GT4 of the team Care for Climate.
