VLN teams at the 24h Race: The best Porsche was the “Profiauto” of Frikadelli Racing

Frikadelli Racing finished the Nürburgring 24h Race with both cars. The car with the professional driver squad which competes regularly in the VLN series was finally the only of the three works-supported Porsche race cars which made it to the finish of the classical long-distance race. The final position of the sister car was 17th overall.

Frikadelli Racing convinced with an exceptionally good team performance and racing strategy. The “professional” car driven by Norbert Siedler, Lucas Luhr, Klaus Bachler and Michael Christensen started the race from grid position 30 and the second Porsche 911 GT3 R with the regular crew of Sabine Schmitz, Klaus Abbelen and Andreas Ziegler, this time supported by Alex Müller, was two positions behind them on the starting grid. Throughout the complete distance, none of the two cars was involved in any incident.

“During the complete 24 hours, we did not have the slightest contact with any other car. That is quite exceptional”, said Porsche works driver Michael Christensen happily. “We also benefitted from the rain shower just before the end of the race. We changed to rain tyres – so Lucas finally managed to catch up and we finished in sixth place.”

Sabine Schmitz’s comment on their 17th position was quite relaxed, as usual: “I completed five stints and it was quite hot inside the car. Every time I looked into the exterior mirror, I saw the Kölsch beer sticker at the rear and I always got a mad thirst. But seriously: Both of our Porsche race cars were running like a clockwork. Hard to believe that we completed the race without any problem.”
