Great coverage: The livestream of the season opener was a big success

For the season 2017, the VLN has clearly increased and enhanced the live transmission of the races in the internet. The broadcasting time was extended to more than eight hours and the programmes are for the first time available in German and English languages. The result after the season opener is really good: The online transmission of the 63rd ADAC Westfalenfahrt in the various channels was used by the total of 419,982 visitors, the viewer proportion of the English transmission came up to 37 percent.

“These figures demonstrate that we have taken the right step at the right moment”, says Dietmar Busch, VLN VV Managing Director. “There is a huge interest in our worldwide biggest grassroots series, the VLN endurance championship, and this not only in Germany but also abroad. A top-class livestream in the internet is the perfect medium for us to fulfil these demands appropriately.”

Alone the live broadcast of the race on the official VLN website VLN.de and on the partner websites such as auto-motor-und-sport.de had more than 100,000 visits. The same number of accesses were counted on the facebook channels of the VLN and the Nürburgring channel. A major part of this positive result was furthermore attributable to the integration on the YouTube channel of Drivetribe, the online portal of the former Topgear commentators Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The commentaries of the English livestream were for the first time taken over by the presenters of Radio Le Mans. The format was distributed worldwide on more than 20 platforms, amongst those popular websites in many European countries, the United States, Russia and Australia.

The remaining eight races of the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring will also be broadcasted live in the internet. The second round, the 42nd DMV 4 Hour Race, will already take place on the 8th of April 2017. The online stream will start at 8:15 am.
