A fresh wind is blowing in the VLN endurance championship: In the current season, the GTronix Team mcchip-dkr will compete in class SPX with a Renault R.S. 01 GT3. Heiko Hammel and Dieter Schmidtmann have so far been confirmed as drivers. Additional pilots will be announced shortly.
“We started planning the project in October”, says Team Principle Danny Kubasik. “So there was not much time to get familiar with the car and to modify as well as adapt it for racing at the Nordschleife.”
Many adjustments had also to be made because of the SPX Technical Regulations. Due to the establishment of the new companies mcchip-dkr Engineering and mcpipes by mcchip-dkr, all the necessary modifications could be developed and carried out in-house. “From CAD construction to welding and up to the assembly of special parts – the project represents a technical challenge for all departments but also provides the opportunity to gather important knowledge in the automotive sector”, informs Kubasik.
This week, the team will proceed to a first test in Misano, Italy.
