Timo Scheider and Marc Basseng will also start in the VLN 2017 for BMW

BMW has determined its driver line-up for the Nürburgring 24h Race. The manufacturer from Munich/Germany has announced two prestigious new drivers to join the squad: Former DTM driver Timo Scheider and 26-times VLN winner Marc Basseng will start in the BMW M6 GT3 at the classical long-distance race on the Eifel race track. As part of their preparation, BMW is expected to take part in one or the two VLN races in March and April with Scheider and Basseng.

“I am extremely happy that BMW Motorsport offered me this great opportunity”, says Scheider who has already won the Nürburgring 24h Race in an Opel. “I am full of anticipation about the chance to prove my performance in a new make and to open a new chapter in my career. It is of course perfect that the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring will be our first common participation as a team. The Nürburgring is a genuine and unique legend. I am very grateful to BMW for this chance and I am just looking forward to everything that may come along.”

As in the previous year, each of the teams of Schubert Motorsport and ROWE Racing will enter two BMW M6 GT3 in the 2017 24h race. The BMW Team Schnitzer, which has already scored five victories at this event, will furthermore strengthen the powerful BMW squad. On the 25th of March, when the VLN endurance racing season is going to start, the teams will then have their first race participation of the current year at the Nordschleife.
