Cup1: Lubner trio in the lead at half-time

After five of ten VLN races, David Griessner, Gilb Kutepov and Marcel Hartl are in the lead of the Opel Astra OPC Cup. In the first half of the Nürburgring VLN endurance championship season, the driver trio of Lubner Motorsport scored two class wins and two second places and thus collected 99 points. Griessner, Kutepov and Hartl in particular dominated most of the timed practices: They achieved pole position in their class four times and in three races they were furthermore shown with the fastest lap times.

Their advance ahead of the second-placed Raphael Hundeborn, Marc Legel and Roman Löhnert is 18 points. The Bonk Motorsport trio gained one class victory; with one second place, three third and one fourth position, their particular advantage is consistency. Into third position are currently Lucas Waltermann, Sandro Rothenberger and Andrea Sabbatini (60 points).

The Strycek family has so far scored two class wins but they do not score any points in the Opel Cup. Together with daughter Lena and son Robin, Volker Strycek participates in the complete season of the Opel Astra OPC Cup. In the second and in the fourth races, they won the Cup 1 class.

Another mixed team celebrated a victory in the fifth round: After 24 race laps, Jasmin Preisig from Switzerland finished first in their class, together with her fellow countrymen Roger Vögeli and Daniel Hadorn.

The fight about a win in the Opel Astra OPC Cup remains exciting. 20 points are allocated for a win and one point can in addition be scored respectively for the best position on the starting grid and for the fastest race lap.
