Tim Schrick will compete with an own team

The Team Roots Racing finally made it at the almost very last minute. They did not make it yet for the test and set-up session at the Nürburgring. The Subaru BRZ which was prepared all by the team itself will however be ready for the start of the VLN endurance racing championship season. “End of January, the car came from the roll cage manufacturer. Since then, we have been working full speed”, says Tim Schrick who founded the Team Roots Racing together with Holger Spelsberg. They both intend to sit behind the cockpit when competing in group SP3 in all of the ten VLN races of the season.

A short roll-out went all right, the Subaru seems to be well prepared for the Nordschleife and the driver are anyhow. Schrick and Spelsberg are genuine racers and it is the main objective of their project to preserve the tradition of grassroots motorsport at the Nordschleife.

Everything started in autumn last year when the paths of Schrick and Spelsberg crossed again and when Tim Schrick was driving around in a Subaru BRZ. “I told Holger that this is basically a mega car. It is super light, compact, torsionally stiff and it has rear-wheel drive. The BRZ would be perfect in class SP3”, informs Schrick. “We then started to think further. To my surprise, Holger liked the idea and right away wanted to get everything together.” The company Roots Racing was quickly born and since then, the tasks are clearly assigned. Schrick: “I have a rather experimental spirit and Holger is the correct one who also likes to develop an excel table at home.” A well-functioning combination with a team of almost ten persons for the VLN season 2016.

A comprehensive report on the Team Roots Racing is published in the Racing News. The first edition of the year 2016 will be available from Friday 1st April on-site at the Nürburgring and from Saturday 2nd April for download on this homepage.
