Most exciting finale of the VLN endurance racing championship

The VLN endurance racing championship is facing a most exciting finale. The 36th DMV Münsterlandpokal will figure a grid that will make the hearts of all motor sport fans beat much faster. In the focus hereby will be the comeback of the N.Technology P4/5 Competizione which had already caused a lot of attraction at the beginning of the season. With the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, Kremer-Racing and Need for Speed Team Schubert At, three big German racing teams will furthermore be guest at the Nürburgring for this last race of the year on the Nordschleife. Whilst the championship is practically already decided in favour of Black Falcon, the spectators may look forward to a close fight about further positions in the final classification of this most popular club racing series in Europe. Entrance is free all around the Nordschleife. Tickets with admission to the paddocks and to the open grandstands at the Grand Prix circuit will be available at the ticket boxes on-site for a family-friendly price of 12 euros. A 30 minutes summary of the race will be broadcasted in channel Sport 1 on 8th of November at 17:30hrs.

At the beginning of the year, the N-Technology P4/5 had caused quite a sensation. In spring already and as preparation to the 24h Race at the Nürburgring, the sporting, Ferrari based prototype of motorsport enthusiast James Glickenhaus already joined the endurance racing championship as a guest team. The fact that this is really a serious project is reflected in the Italian team looking for another challenge in racing now again at the end of the season. The team of the well-known motorsport stars from Italy, Nicola Larini and Fabrizio Giovanardi, will for the Münsterlandpokal race be completed by a true expert at the Nordschleife, Christian Menzel (Kelberg/ Germany), in the super sport race car. “The team has contacted me as I had already been able to gain a lot of experience with the most different race cars”, explains Menzel. “This is a fantastic opportunity for me as I have never driven a Ferrari so far. The P4/P5 is a fascinating race car and I am really looking forward to contribute to its further development.”

The Need for Speed Team Schubert has even entered three spectacular GT3 sports cars. In 2011, the BMW specialists had successfully competed in the GT3 European Championship with a Z4 and finally just failed to win the title. In the endurance racing championship the sports coupé from Munich has so far not yet been able to score a win. At the tenth VLN race, Claudia Hürtgen (Aachen/ Germany) and Marko Hartung (Wallroda/ Germany), Peter Posavac (Essen/ Germany), Anders Buchardt (NNorway) and Walter Csaba (Hungry) as well as Edward Sandström (Sweden), Nico Bastian (Hemsbach/ Germany) and Hendrik Vieth (Leer/ Germany) will try to close this gap in the vita of the team from Oschersleben/ Germany.
In DTM, the Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline has last weekend won the title in the team classification. Just one week later, Christer Jöns (Ingelheim/ Germany) and Norbert Siedler (Austria) will fight for the win of the day in the VLN with an Audi R8 LMS. In particular Jöns who won the VLN Junior Trophy in the years 2008 and 2009 knows the Nordschleife very well. In the current season, Jöns competed in the ADAC GT Masters for the racing team from Kempten/ Germany.

With Kremer Racing, one of the most traditional German racing teams will also come back to the endurance racing championship at the end of the season 2011. In addition to sports car professional Wolfgang Kaufmann (Molsberg/ Germany), Adam Osieka (Bonn/ Germany) will drive the Porsche 911 GT3 which is classified in class SP7 (VLN Specials up to 4,000 cc cylinder capacity). The crew in the sister car will be made up of Egon Allgäuer, Michael Ostermann and Michael Küke. In their class, the two Kremer Porsche will have to compete amongst others against the 28 times VLN race winner Jürgen Alzen (Betzdorf/ Germany), who will share the cockpit of his Porsche 911 GT3 with Klaus Graf (Domharn/ Germany) and Mark Bullitt (USA).

At the latest since his spectacular overall win in the Audi TT-RS at the 6h Race, Michael Ammermüller (Pocking/ Germany) is no longer a ‘no name’ driver. The young talented race driver will face a new challenge at the Münsterlandpokal race: Together with Marc Basseng (Leutenbach/ Germany) and Christopher Mies (Heiligenhaus/ Germany), Ammermüller will start in the Audi R8 LMS entered by Phoenix-Racing, exactly the car which he had sent off into second place under difficult conditions end of August.

The 36th DMV Münsterlandpokal race on 29th October will cover the traditional distance of four hours. The starting grid will be based on the timed practice session scheduled for Saturday morning between 08:30 and 10:00hrs. On 12 o’clock exactly, the starting signal will then be given to all the drivers for the last time in the 2011 season.
