Record of spectators at the second round

“The year may well continue this way”, said the happy Managing Director Robert Rust. The VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring noted a new record of spectators at the second round. More than 5,000 fans visited the paddocks on 30 April and followed the action from the grandstand at the Grand Prix Circuit – more than ever before. A multiple of this number of spectators came to the Nordschleife where the entrance is free as everyone knows.

So everything is looking very promising for the first highlight of the season, too, the 42nd Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy race on 14 May which is one of the two races over the increased duration of six hours race time. Whilst these races will also provide an increase of 50 percent of racing action for the spectators, it represents a true challenge for the teams competing in this most popular endurance racing series in Europe. Man and material must all the more demonstrate their ability and physical endurance at the most beautiful and most demanding race track of the world.

Even though, according to the name, it is an endurance race, there is not much room for tactics in the top group. The top drivers in their spectacular sports and touring cars are chasing around the circuit bumper to bumper and provide excitement and entertainment for all the fans.

“The high number of spectators is a fantastic confirmation for us that we are on the right way with out series”, says Rust. “One should however not forget that we offer the platform only. The show is provided by our brilliant teams and their race cars as well as by the top drivers we have. It’s for them that the spectators are travelling to the Nürburgring. VLN is proud to provide the basis therefore.”

The organising MSC Adenau is expecting a big and strong field of drivers. And the fans may look forward to the ongoing battle between BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, Porsche 911 GT3, Audi R8 LMS and Ferrari 458. The supporting programme that weekend is all about youngsters. The event will host the Formula Renault again.
