Renger, Rehfeld and Mölig in the team of Kissling-Motorsport

The drivers which make up the crew for the first Corvette C6.SP entered by Kissling Motorsport are fixed. The US sports car “made by Kissling” will be driven by the three experienced and quick drivers Reinhold Renger, Roland Rehfeld and Reinhold Mölig.

Renger has been a regular participant in the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring since the end of the ninetieth and celebrated first successes in the category of series production cars. His debut in the Porsche 911 GT3 MR in 2001 finished with a sensation – at the last race of the year, he straightaway finished on top of the podium which was his first and so far single overall victory. After two years behind the steering wheel of the sports car from the Zuffenhausen factory, Renger changed to a Honda S2000. Together with Andreas Mäder who unfortunately passed away last year he has always been involved in the battle for the Championship.

The motor sport vita of Rehfeld illustrates the variety of his activities. He started in kart sport as most young race drivers do and then moved over to the Renault-elf-Campus Championship, to the Formula Renault Cup and also to the Formula 3. Rehfeld gained first experience with GT and Touring Cars in the Porsche Carrera Cup. The multiple motor sport talent participated in addition in the European Truck Championship and in the ASCAR Series. During the last years, Rehfeld’s home was the sports cars. In this category, the racing driver instructor used amongst others a Mosler MT900 R in the Dutch SuperCar Challenge and competed in the ADAC GT Masters. Together with Renger he had several participations at the Nordschleife during the past years.

In the past endurance race championships Mölig attracted in particular attention with his monster V8STAR. Quite often did he compete alone in the long distance races. It was in 2008 when he got a seat in the Corvette for the first time and he was straightaway enthusiastic about its performance. Mölig has been familiar with the Kissling team since more than a decade now and had sporadic participations in the team from Bad Münstereifel.

The team drivers Renger, Rehfeld and Mölig hope to get familiar with their race car during the test and set-up sessions and the first Championship events of the current season. The performance of the front engine sports car with V8 engine should be suitable to achieve regular positions amongst the top ten. The team of Kissling Motorsport will be completed by Scott Preacher who will also race in the Corvette at the most beautiful circuit of the world. The US American will have his first test in April, additional races are scheduled.

Due to possible adjustments of the regulations, Kissling Motorsport will enter only one Corvette C6.SP for the first two Championship rounds. “According to information given by the regulations working group for the endurance race Championship and the 24h Race, adjustments regarding the air restrictors might become necessary during the first events”, says Kissling. “After due consideration, we have decided to start with only one race car and to enter the second Corvette when the technical classifications are final.” The second car of the team will then be driven by Hannu Luostarinen, Volker Strycek and Stefan Kissling. The team manager, though, would leave his place behind the steering wheel for a quick and experienced driver.
