Oliver Kainz to drive a Porsche of Mühlner-Motorsport

The Mühlner-Motorsport Team based in Spa-Franchorchamps in Belgium will enter the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring as well as the 24-Hours-Race at the Nürburgring with two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S in the new FIA GT3 class. In addition, the engagement in the cup class of the Endurance Championship will be carried on.

With Oliver Kainz (Kottenheim), Mühlner Motorsport will have one of the most experienced drivers at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in its team. The 39 years old Manager of an Automobile Group in the Eifel area, who has been competing in various Motocross and Enduro Races since 1995, discovered his passion for the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 2001 and has since then been a regular participant at his home circuit in the Endurance Championship and in the ADAC 24 Hours Race. Apart from numerous overall victories and top places on the podium, the outstanding highlights of the very successful cooperation between Oliver Kainz and the team of Johannes Scheid include two 3rd positions at the 24 Hours Races in 2001 and in 2003. The team’s successful BMW race cars are often called “Eifelblitz” due to their legendary performances at the Nürburgring.

”Studying the new Regulations caused me to think about my future in motor sports. Currently, the series of BMW race cars does not include a vehicle able to win races and that is why I decided to use a Porsche in the new class for FIA GT3 race cars. As Mühlner-Motorsport has many years of experience at the Nürburgring and at the 24 Hours Race and already won the ADAC-GT-Masters with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S in 2008, I just contacted them to know if they did not wish to enter that car at the Nordschleife and we quickly came to an agreement,” says automobile technician Oliver Kainz.

”We are very glad to have Oliver in our team. It is not only that he is quick and reliable but he is also very popular at the Nürburgring as recently proved at the election of the “Driver of the Year 2008”. I am sure that he will quickly get the change to the Porsche under control and that together we will celebrate many successes very soon”, informs Renate-Carola Mühlner who controls the team’s tactics and strategy at the pit wall.

The engagement at the Nürburgring Nordschleife is the priority project in the 2009 programme of the successful Mühler-Motorsport team, but they will also be present again at the ADAC-GT-Masters and at the FIA-GT3 European Championship.

The drivers to complete the team for the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring and for the ADAC 24 Hours Race will be communicated very soon. There might be one or another big surprise ….
