Classification and Scoring System

A special formula makes for equitableness, in the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring. The championship points are awarded according to a scoring system proven and tested for many years. According to this system, the race winner needn’t necessarily be the one who may add the biggest number of points to his tally. To cut a long story short: the driver who has defeated the biggest number of opponents, in his category, will be rewarded with the biggest number of points. As demonstrated by the point matrix, a win in a category with no opponents will be rewarded with the same number of points as finishing runner-up in a three-car category: five.

And there is another factor that makes for additional excitement – particularly in the closing stages of the season: the two void results every entrant is entitled to. Consequently, even those teams that haven’t got the budget to contest more than eight races or failed to score points in a race due to an accident or a technical failure have the chance of scoring a top result in the championship.

And those who win the title will not only be an ineffaceable part of the Nürburgring history but also may feel as true winners. In consideration of the fact that every season of the series is contested by about 1,000 drivers, the champions have achieved something truly special by defeating the entire field.
