The ADAC Zurich 24h Race will celebrate its 40th jubilee with an ultimate event. More than 170 teams, most of them from amongst the regular competitors in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring, will be at the start of the longest race of the year this weekend (17 to 20 May) at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The organisers expect about 200,000 spectators at the legendary race track to follow the world-wide biggest grid at an automobile race. The race will figure about 600 race drivers, an organisation with 2,000 marshals and officials and a full-speed show with a dozen of attractions, starting on Wednesday evening on and beside the track. The field of the more than 30 top teams includes the works and works supported crews, all with excellent drivers, of the favourite and premium manufacturers Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Dream race cars such as Aston-Martin, Ferrari, Corvette and Ford GT will however take up the challenge and for the 40th edition of the long distance classical race, the experts expect an extremely tough and ultra exciting sprint competition over 24 hours.

Michael Schrey and Henry Walkenhorst have stopped the dominating performances of Mathol Racing and scored their first victory of the current season in class SP10 with the BMW M3 GT4. Looking into the other results of the racing team from Münster/ Germany achieved at this race, it seems that they had to pay a high price for this result. Clutch problems in one car and two accidents with other cars will provide a great deal of work for the team director during the coming weeks.
