Once again, Renate and Olaf Manthey were travelling to Bavaria last weekend in order to get some updated information on the state of health of their regular driver Marcel Tiemann. The couple from Meuspath near the Nürburgring was really glad to see Marcel in a very good mood about which the doctors are obviously also very glad. “Marcel is doing very well! Many gaps in the memory are now completed again with important details. The attending doctors are really very much impressed by Marcel’s positive attitude, in particular as this is absolutely essential for a sustained recovery”, said the team manager happily after having returned into the Eifel region.

The highlight of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring will come very soon. The 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen ‘um die Pokale der Opel-Werke Bochum’ on 31st July will see an excellent grid. Up to now, the organising MSC Ruhrblitz Bochum has already received 190 entry applications. So the race over the distance of six hours promises above all exciting action around the 24.369 kilometres long combination of the Nürburgring short connection and the Nordschleife, in addition to a great variety in the performances as all kinds of race cars, from standard series production cars in racing trim up to the most sophisticated race car with more than 600 HP will be represented. The positions on the starting grid for the race will be decided after the timed practice to take place in the morning between 8:30 and 10 hrs. The start light will then be switched on at 12 o’clock exactly and the field will start the race into the ‘Green Hell’. The entrance for the visitors at the Nordschleife is free again, like it is for all the races of this most popular endurance racing championship in Europe. Anybody wishing to get closer to the race cars inside the paddocks and the pits may purchase tickets at the box-offices at the family-friendly price of 12 Euros. These tickets give also admission to the grandstands at the Grand Prix Circuit – as for example to the impressive main grandstands opposite to the pit lane. This is a perfect place to watch the teams working on their cars. A 30 minutes summary about the race will be broadcasted in the channel Sport 1 on 7th August at 10:15hrs.

VLN comes to a positive assessment of the season 2010

After six out of ten races of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring, the VLN’s assessment of the 2010 season so far is positive. “Our currant evaluation is very positive although we are slightly behind the figures of last year. This is in particular due to the uncomfortable calendar”, explains VLN Managing Director Robert Rust. “The schedule with three races in July within a period of only five weeks – and in addition in the summer holidays – this is not a very suitable timetable for our participants. I am nevertheless convinced that we will reach the figures of last year and to confirm these after the oncoming 6h Race and the remaining three events.”

“We had no problems at all during the race. A super weekend”, was the race summary of Harald Jacksties, Head of Marketing of the UNIWHEELS Group, after the sixth round of the endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring. The Seat Leon entered by the Team Inter Racing was once again perfectly prepared although the Inter Racing team still suffered some minor electronic problems in practice. “In practice, we could definitely not show the performance which is actually possible. Besides, we did not want to complete too many laps in order to spare our Seat for the race”, said team manager Frank Lorenzo after the practice regarding the missed chance to finish into a better position in qualifying. The not quite adequate position on the grid for the crew used to success nevertheless did not turn out to be a disadvantage. The experienced endurance race drivers could be absolutely satisfied with place two in the very competitive class SP3T and with their win in the Seat Langstreckenchallenge classification.
