Rowe Motorsport with their best result of the season
The Team Rowe Motorsport with drivers Michael Zehe (Flörsheim-Dalsheim/ Germany), Marco Schelp (Berlin/ Germany) and Alexander Roloff (Berlin/ Germany) finished the 6th round of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup S with fifth position and scored thus their best result of the current season.
The expectations for a successful race of the team around team manager Peter Mamerow were quite high after their performance in practice. The youngster amongst the three drivers, Alexander Roloff, was in top form and, after setting his fastest lap time of 8:18.792 minutes, brought the team with start number 50 into 4th position on the grid. At 11:58hrs exactly, the starting signal for the race around the 24.369 kilometres long track was given to the field made up of 155 cars. Right on the start and finish straight, start driver Roloff lost two positions but was able to keep up with the leading group with constantly quick lap times. Holding fourth place, the young driver from Berlin changed the steering wheel to Marco Schelp who was clearly able to defend their position. “That was my best race ever”, said Roloff happily. “I was fighting really hard!” At the scheduled pit stop after lap 16, Michael Zehe started his turn in the Porsche and, after another 5 laps, changed to final driver Alexander Roloff when the team was shown into sixth place. Roloff started an exciting fight about position 4 with the green Chrysler (Dodge) Viper GT3 of the Vulkan-Racing-Team Mintgen Motorsport and with the Porsche 911 GT 3 Cup S of the Haribo Team Manthey. The Vulkan-Racing-Team finally won this battle with a razor-thin advance of only 0.4 seconds and with the ROWE Porsche finishing fifth.
After the race, all of the three drivers as well as team manager Peter Mamerow were very happy with their result which showed that they can very well go the pace of the top teams.
