Musical meets VLN

When the start to the 33rd RCM DMV Grenzlandrennen at the Nürburgring will be given, the car with start number 580, the BMW 320i entered by Bonk Motorsport, will be sent on the journey over the Nürburgring Nordschleife by the main actors of the musical “Stumm”. Karl-Ferdinand Freiherr von Stumm-Halberg and his wife will personally accompany Axel Burghard and Andreas Möntmann, the regular drivers in the team of Bonk Motorsport, on their way to the starting grid and wave to them when they leave to race in the “Green Hell”. Burghard is not only successful in the waste management business in his home province Saarland but he is also a friend and promoter of the musical project in Neunkirchen. With eight sold-out performances, about 170 ambitious amateurs under professional management made it possible that the former steel mill town of Neunkirchen is the only city in southern Germany with an own musical.

Created in 2003, this idea of the responsible persons of the city and of the cultural society has experienced a fantastic development. The concept of the musical project Neunkirchen does not only represent a unique feature for the city, it remains unique for the whole south western part of Germany: A number of professional artists work together with amateurs in plays which have never been performed before. Many people far beyond the city limit of Neunkirchen enjoy the presentations.
“STUMM. The musical” tells from the live and the era of Karl-Ferdinand Freiherr von Stumm-Halberg (1836 till 1901), the most important industrial magnate of the Saarland and of the region in the 19th century and one of the most distinctive personalities of the German Empire. The project is about the fascinating story of poverty, prosperity, love, hate, enviousness and intrigue. A musical with music, dance, spectacle and beautiful dresses about Stumm and his family, as well as about the workpeople about whom he was so concerned and who nevertheless had to suffer under him. The expressive music was written by composers Amby Schillo and Andreas Puhl and the texts come from Martin Leutgeb, Dieter Meier, Heike Sutor and Enrico Tinebra.

Just in line with the second season of the musical from 13th to 22nd of August 2010, the BMW 320 of Bonk Motorsport will carry advertising for the musical and be sent into the race by the historic character of Freiherr von Stumm. More information about the city of Neunkirchen and the musical project are available under www.neunkirchen.de or www.musicalprojekt-neunkirchen.de.
