Spectacular transfer in the VLN endurance championship Nürburgring: The two current VLN champions Alexander Mies and Michael Schrey will change to the team of GetSpeed Performance for the season 2017 and start with a Porsche 911 GT3 in the Carrera-Cup class together with team manager Adam Osieka.
Mies and Schrey have completed a very successful season 2016. They took the title in the VLN championship in their BMW M235i Racing of Bonk-Motorsport and won furthermore the Cup of the same title. In addition, Mies also won the VLN Junior Trophy and Schrey the BMW Sports Trophy, the latter thus became the most successful BMW privateer worldwide in 2016.
“Already at the end of last year we started to discuss with Adam what we could do all together”, says Mies. “We finished with an excellent package and I am very much looking forward to the new challenge in a more performant car.” It will be difficult for the two drivers to defend their title, though, because the number of participants in the Carrera Cup class with an average of six cars in the years 2015 and 2016 is normally quite low. “We will primarily fight for class wins”, Mies adds. “And in the end, we will see where we stand.”
Other driver crews changing to GetSpeed
The team which is based at Meuspath nearby the Nürburgring will enter two more nine eleven in the Carrera Cup class. One of the race cars will be driven by Uli Berg, whereas Janine Hill, John Shoffner and the 26 times VLN overall winner Arno Klasen will share the cockpit in the second one. And that’s not all yet – Frank Kräling, Marc Gindorf and Christopher Brück will compete in class SP7 and fight for class wins with a Porsche 911 GT3 MR (991). Both driver trios were part of Frikadelli Racing in the year 2016.
Two cars will be entered in the Cayman GT4 Trophy by Manthey Racing which was introduced last year. “Max” and “Jens”, competing in their second VLN season in 2017, will be the drivers in one of those. They only narrowly missed the third overall position in the class classification 2016 which should be motivation enough for them to start another attack. Daniel Mursch will be the regular driver in the sister car.
“We can be more than happy with the interest in our Performance Center”, says team manager and managing partner of the GetSpeed Performance Center, Adam Osieka. “The hard work of the last four years is beginning to bear fruit.”
