The participation of the team around nine times World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb at their debut in the VLN was a success in every sense of the word. Jürgen Nett, Michael Bohrer and Grégoir Demoustier managed the particular challenges at the Nordschleife in their Peugeot 308 Racing Cup without any major problems and their performance was crowned by scoring a class win in SP2T. This marked a racing debut with which the Peugeot brand seamlessly follows up on the successes of the years 2011 to 2013 in which the models RCZ Racing Cup and 208 GTi were dominating.
The setup for the Nordschleife was developed on Friday evening by the two experienced Michael Bohrer and Jürgen Nett and they successfully demonstrated the potential of the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup on the next day. “A race lap time of 9:03 minutes, this is absolutely acceptable for a 1.6 turbo”, was the summary of Jürgen Nett at the finish. Michael Bohrer, too, was very pleased with the handling of the French car. “A race car that is very easy and comfortable to drive”, he said.
The focus of the third driver, Grégoir Demoustier, was not so much directed onto the times but rather onto collecting experience. He passed his Driving Permit Nordschleife on Friday in the Peugeot 306 S16 of Jürgen Nett before he entered the cockpit of the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup on Saturday. Important test kilometres both for the WTCC driver and for the Peugeot. The car will return to the Nordschleife for the 24h Race. Further experience shall then be gained during the ETCC race before the car will be available for sale to the public starting from June.
