Before the participants in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring will contest their second race of the season on 30th April, many of them will meet again already this weekend to take part in racing at the Nordschleife. The event is the ADAC Qualification Race which will start on Sunday, 17th April at 12 o’clock. The participants use the 6h Race in the first instance to get prepared for the Nürburgring 24h Race which is scheduled to take place from 26th to 29th May. The VLN teams, who represent the greatest part of the crews on the grid, will hereby have more space than they are used to at the Nordschleife. According to the current entry list, almost 70 cars will compete in the Qualification Race, whereas there are normally more than 160 cars on the track in a VLN race.
It is in particular the long-established VLN teams who will use the race to continue to get their cars fit for the Nordschleife. Walkenhorst Motorsport, Pixum Team Adrenalin Motorsport, Bonk Motorsport and the Team Securtal Sorg Rennsport will all together bring eight BMW M235i Racing Cup vehicles at the start. It is an excellent opportunity for them to proceed to some fine-tuning in their Cup 5 race cars that were equipped with a comprehensive update package before the start of the season.
The make from Munich will also represent the greatest number of cars in the V classes. The Team Pixum Adrenalin Motorsport alone has entered three BMW for the race, one BMW E90 in class V4 and two BMW Z4 in class V5. The Team Black Falcon TMD Friction and Prosport-Performance will each compete in class V5 with a Porsche Cayman. Each of these two teams has moreover registered a Cayman GT4 in the new Cup3 class which thus represent, together with GetSpeed Performance, the complete starting grid in that class.
Two cars will furthermore start for GetSpeed in class SP7: one Porsche 997 Cup and one Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The greatest part of the competitors in this class, too, will come from the VLN series: the Team clickvers.de with a Porsche 997 GT3, Kremer with their self-developed Porsche 997 KR and Manthey-Racing with the Porsche GT3 Cup MR.
There are of course also some VLN teams who will fight for positions in the big classes. Walkenhorst Motorsport wishes to demonstrate the power of the two new BMW M6 GT3 and a BMW Z4 GT4 will complete the line-up of the team in class SP9. The local heroes of Frikadelli Racing will also be on the grid with their new Porsche 911 GT3 R in order to collect further valuable test and racing kilometres at the Nordschleife. The Wochenspiegel Team Manthey, which suffered a retirement for their Porsche 911 GT3 R already in the first lap of the VLN season opener, has the same target in their mind. Other participants in the ADAC Qualification Race will certainly be the Team Twin Busch Motorsport with their new Audi R8 LMS.
