Walkenhorst: A proven and promising driver mix

The preparations for the coming season in the VLN endurance racing championship Nürburgring and for the Nürburgring 24h Race are well under way in the Team Walkenhorst Motorsport powered by Dunlop. The team will amongst others enter two new BMW M6 GT3 in all of the ten VLN races at the Nordschleife. Team manager Henry Walkenhorst does, however, not want to abandon the regular race car of the last years. He himself, together with Peter Posavac, will thus compete at the 24.358 kilometres long track in the BMW Z4 GT3.

“We have become so attached to the little brother of the M6 “, says Henry Walkenhorst. “We do not want to do without its incredible sound and its reliability.” The Norwegian Christian Krognes, the Swede Victor Bouveng, the Fin Matias Henkola and Michele di Martino have been contracted to drive the new M6 race cars by Walkenhorst. The young DTM driver Tom Blomqvist, BMW works driver and son of rally legend Stig Blomqvist, will join the team of Walkenhorst for the 24h Race. Jörg Müller will furthermore support the team starting from the fourth VLN race.

In the year 2016, Walkenhorst will nevertheless not only compete in the really fast classes. The team will for example participate with two cars in the BMW M235iR-Cup, the class which Michele di Martino won last year. In 2016, the current overall winners of the Opel Astra OPC-Cups, Juha Hanonnen and Jari Nuoramo, intend to follow up the success of di Martinos in the BMW M235i, together with Thomas D. Hetzer. The second car in this class will be driven by a trio from Great Britain. Both cars will be at the start in the VLN as well as of the 24h Race.

Walkenhorst will thus enter five cars at the Nordschleife in the coming season and is confident to score a considerable number of points with the mix of young and experienced drivers.
