Customers and fans of Kremer Racing may look forward to the new season. The sports car specialists from Cologne will come up with their own car design, a very special Kremer Porsche, for the new 2016 season of the VLN endurance racing championship at the Nürburgring. State-of-the art technology, closely based on the design of the Kremer Porsche 935 K3, one of the most successful race cars at the end of the seventieth and in the beginning of the eighteenth.
This was the most victorious vehicle of the racing season 1979. On the basis of the Porsche 930 Turbo, Erwin and Manfred Kremer further developed the car independently: the Kremer Porsche 935 K3 with 3.2 litres biturbo engine, intercooling system and a performance of up to 850 HP.
They proved to be successful very quickly. Klaus Ludwig won ten out of eleven rounds of the German Racing Championship and became superior German Racing Champion in the year 1979. The early highlight of the racing season was in particular the overall win at the Le Mans 24 Hours in the same year. The private team hereby dominated many manufacturer teams.
For the VLN season 2016, Kremer Racing put into place the idea to create a Kremer edition which would perfectly combine tradition and modern age. The technical team from Cologne prepared an aerodynamic optimisation on basis of a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup which was developed from the design of the legendary Kremer Porsche 935 K3. Together with the staff of his company Zimspeed, Holger Zimmermann manufactured the automotive body shell. In the old times already, his father Ekkehard had a close relationship with the company of Kremer.
First participations of this cult vehicle are scheduled in group H. “It has been a long-year project for us to create a Kremer edition which should establish the connection between our most successful times and modern times. I am happy that this complex development will now come to an end”, says Kremer owner Eberhard Baunach. “We will thus be able to provide a unique offer to our motorsport and road traffic customers.”
