Sayonara S2000

The production of the Honda S2000 will be stopped end of June 2009 after almost ten years. This will be the end of an era for one of the most exciting roadsters of our time.

In 1999, Honda launched the S2000 as a tribute to its 50th anniversary and designed a master piece of engineering with this sports car. The roadster represents the sprit of Honda in the purest form – and this with up to 9.000 r.p.m. Throughout the years, its 4 cylinder high tech engine was five times awarded the title “International Engine of the Year”. The reason for this was its extraordinary high specific power output. With 240 HP achieved from a cylinder capacity of only two litres, it still holds the world record for naturally aspirated engines in mass production in this respect. Since its introduction, the S2000 has been sold in more than 110.000 units around the world, including almost 20.000 in Europe and about 4.500 in Germany.

The S2000 was able to impressively demonstrate its outstanding performance and reliability in motor sports. In almost every year since 2000, it won its class in the 2-litres category at the Nürburgring 24 Hours Race and in addition scored many class victories at the BFGoodrich Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. This Championship will in 2009 again regularly see five cars of this type at the start.
